As a tool for your team, different permission roles are possible and all jobs managed through a single company account, or multiple accounts:

  • Lister, Valuator, Observer, or Administrator.
  • One can photograph and upload room by room
  • Another can list assets from photos, or while in the room
  • another can create a quote or bid on your job
  • packers can designate what goes where, what can be sold, donated, which items are in which box, in which room
  • The sorting features allow any number of reports from contents by category, by room, by value, by what is being sold, donated, kept, what is in boxes by box numbers, etc.
  • Printable reports can be created and exported

As a family, this can all be shared with other family members to create the inclusion and transparency so important for peaceful dividing of assets in estates, downsizings, and divorces. No need to schedule face to face, send big packages of info, and no travel or time off needed. The Executor, or one party doesn’t have to do it all either. He or she can take the photos, and ask others to help list what is in each room, or invite a third party to put approximate values, and anyone that needs access can be invited as an Observer.

Is it really free to use for co-branded companies/agents? Yes, as a professional you may make as many free accounts as you like, for all of your clients and use as tool, all managed through a single login. There is a “voluntarily only, $200 set-up”, you may pay, only if you find having this tool in your brand helps your business many times that amount.  Or, if you signed up through a partner corporate sponsor, the fee is waived.

Really Free to families? As a family, or individual, use it free for any purposes and we are happy to have helped.

How do you do this for free? It is our pleasure to offer this free so families, and the professionals who help them.  At our volume, data storage and use of the AI tools is reasonable.  For us, it puts access to FairSplit’s robust online tools in the hands of more families, at the time they are actually needed, to make divisions of personal property easier.  We are the best way to divide personal property in estates, downsizing and divorce, even when used for free; which we encourage. However, some families will benefit by upgrading to our paid plans.   

Do you store forever? The inventory is stored until the account hasn’t been accessed for at least a year, and no reply is received from the Sponsor and Admin emailed; then we reserve the right to delete. So far, in over ten years, we have not opted to delete any accounts. A good practice is always to save a report to your own computer once a year so no data is ever lost.

Why is this service better than using photo sharing sites, or document sharing services from much larger companies? FairSplit was specifically designed for the tasks associated with life’s pivotal moments; estate planning, settlement, downsizing or divorce where people need to decide who gets what, what can be sold, donated, etc. You could use a combination of the well-known sharing services, but it would be cobbled together.

Should I ever use another home inventory? There are companies that offer wonderful additional services and are designed for things like preserving memories through video and stories (Artifcts.com is one) and others that provide management tools, scheduling, etc. for home maintenance, warranties, etc. That is not what we do.  If those are things wanted, you may choose to use those instead or in addition to us.  Our reports are exportable, as are other companies usually; that means you can often upload inventories created on our service to another.
