Each person ranks the items they care about in order, and with points, from their fixed budget — no one sees anyone else's bids.
DYBBS™ doesn't resolve items one bidder at a time. It scans every open blind bid on every open item and awards the item to the single highest point value, whoever placed it.
The winner isn't charged their full bid — they're charged just 1 point more than the next-highest bid on that item. Bidding your true interest value never costs you more than it needed to.
The item closes, and now everyone who bid on it — the winner's leftover points as well as every losing bid — flows, spread proportionally across that person's own remaining open items in new resulting proportion to how they'd already weighted them.
If two or more bids land in an exact tie — or proportional flow compresses many remaining items down to just 1 point each — points alone can't break it. DYBBS™ then falls back to a randomized snake-draft order (1-2-3-4, then 4-3-2-1, and so on) to award the tied items fairly.
Because the winner only ever pays 1 point more than the runner-up, and every leftover point — winner's and losers' alike — redistributes proportionally toward everything you still want, people can bid their true valuations honestly. Nothing is truly lost by "losing," and nothing is wasted by winning with less than bid.
Trustees, executors, mediators and estate planners helping their clients and families work through tangible personal property will find this process is intuitive and time saving. Having it all take place online greatly reduces conflict, scheduling challenges and travel costs.
